I turned 10,000 strange museum objects into a daily guessing game I kept finding bizarre museum objects that were basically impossible to identify out of context, so I built Baffle around that. You see the object, type whatever you think it is, and an AI scores how close your meaning was instead of doing exact string matching. Then you get the actual answer. Building an AI search engine instead of another chatbot I've been building an AI-powered search engine over the last few months as a side project. The idea came from noticing that I'd often Google something, open several tabs, then copy everything into an AI tool to get a useful answer. It felt like there was an unnecessary step in the process. Small games. One thing is I have it doing a LOT of visual verification of its results, which uses a lot of tokens. I also tend to throw some huge tasks it can't do yet and watch it burn a zillion tokens, and I usually learn more about where it's limits are and am sometimes happily surprised by its success or partial success. TLDR built a Chrome site blocker that lets you into distracting sites only after you do some math or simple coding (JS only right now). Philosophically it's a speed bump rather than a hard gate, because you'll eventually tear a gate down but you'll leave a speed bump. I've always eventually removed site blockers, or just had them become a nuisance that I reflexively dismiss before getting to distracting sites. Site blockers don't really reduce the "start navigating to a distracting site" muscle memory, and they eventually just become annoying. Dopamine is a hell of a drug. At the same time, I've been getting frustrated that my intermediate/advanced math skills have atrophied, and becoming more senior in my career (plus AI...) has caused my coding skills to atrophy even further.
