Scan websites for AI design patterns and score how AI-generated their design looks.
hubraumhugo · HN
Design slop is the feeling that tells you a website is purely AI-generated. This is an attempt to classify the design patterns behind it. Applying this scoring to recent ShowHN submissions shows that about a third of the submissions show medium to heavy design slop: https://slopcop.adriankrebs.ch/show How the scoring works: - A headless browser loads each site (Playwright) - A small in-page script analyzes the DOM and reads computed styles - Every pattern is a deterministic CSS or DOM check. There are false positives, but my manual QA run verified it’s maybe 5-10%. Is design slop bad? Not really, just uninspired. After all, the web was never about the fanciest design, and before the AI era, everything looked like Bootstrap. However, there is a difference between trying to craft your own design and just shipping with whatever defaults the LLMs output. And the same has been the case pre-LLM when using CSS/HTML templates. I guess people will get back to crafting beautiful design

Learn Japanese with AI tutor feedback and spaced repetition exercises.

I built Language Learning website with hint of AI grading A few years back, I enrolled in a Japanese language course at Mumbai University. It was a pretty rough experience. The teacher was incredibly loud as in literally shouting at people's every mistake, and the pace was unforgiving. If you missed just one or two lectures, suddenly everything looked like alien text and you were completely left behind. The environment was so tense that asking a simple doubt made you regret ever joining the

Not a direct answer but the guys at Exercism (non-profit that publishes really good and free programming language self-study courses) recently launched a separate site to teach junior programmers both vibe coding and software engineering fundamentals.

Practice system design by submitting architectures and experiencing AI-triggered production incidents.
u/No-Preference-846 · Reddit
I built an AI-augmented system design practice tool that triggers a live production incident when you submit your design - not just a critique Every system design prep resource I used was static — read a diagram, read the tradeoffs, move to the next one. Nothing ever pushed back on what I actually built. So I built ChaosBench . You design a system on a canvas — drag components, wire them up — and when you submit it, an LLM (Gemini) finds the actual weak point in your specific design and
