Built a small tool to see how native speakers actually use words across different media (movies, podcasts, etc.) I used to use YouGlish a lot while studying, but it always felt pretty basic—you watch a clip, and that's it. I wanted a way to filter clips by specific media (movies, TV shows, podcasts), get translations, and actually ask an AI why someone used a word in that specific context when textbook definitions fell short. I built the Mandarin learning tool I wanted for myself, then got carried away polishing it into a real product I've been learning Mandarin for a couple of years, and I wanted my reading practice to actually match the words I was studying.
