TLDR built a Chrome site blocker that lets you into distracting sites only after you do some math or simple coding (JS only right now). Philosophically it's a speed bump rather than a hard gate, because you'll eventually tear a gate down but you'll leave a speed bump. I've always eventually removed site blockers, or just had them become a nuisance that I reflexively dismiss before getting to distracting sites. Site blockers don't really reduce the "start navigating to a distracting site" muscle memory, and they eventually just become annoying. Dopamine is a hell of a drug. At the same time, I've been getting frustrated that my intermediate/advanced math skills have atrophied, and becoming more senior in my career (plus AI...) has caused my coding skills to atrophy even further. On this page there are two complete recreations of the original Gameboy Tetris game based on the commented assembly code. On the top level there is a C version that compiles to WASM but on every pixel of that version there is a GLSL shader also implementing the complete original code with a AI player making virtual inputs! Everything was planned by me and coded by Claude Fable. Brazilian tileset generated by Gemini so I'm not technically using any copyrighted assets. Many ideas emerge through playing and exploration rather than from the initial design — the loop seems to be build → play → discover → improve. I'm a father of two, 7 and 12. They are obsessed with Roblox, especially Rivals. Like a lot of parents, we did not love it. We tried the usual things: block it, limit it, set timers." It became a daily battle, a lose-lose situation. So I flipped the problem. Instead of fighting what they loved, I decided to lean into it, but with a twist. Why just play an FPS when you could build one together? My kids became the PMs. Claude and I became their engineer. I was shocked by how fast we moved. We picked a name, Cooked and started building. Get in. Lock in. Get cooked! In the first 3 hours, we had an actual FPS we could play together in the browser. Next day I invited my friend's two kids over. Suddenly, I had four PMs. We had 3 laptops, 1 iPad and 1 iPhone. So in 30mins we added mobile support and could play all 5 together. I built ClickSploit by using AI to help bridge some of my coding gaps, while leaning on my IT and tech experience to shape the game’s concepts, progression, and terminology. The game is meant to be fun first, but also gives players a small look into real cybersecurity ideas like alert triage, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, endpoint detection, identity security, automation, and building a stronger security program. It’s not a technical simulator, but it is a fun way to get a light introduction to tools and operations that people in cyber and IT work with every day.
